STUDENT SELECTION
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world"
Nelson Mandela
How are the students selected?
Recommendations come from the village chairman or other village leaders. Parents may visit the school and request a place for their child. The school management team also identifies families which they think would benefit from having a child at the school.
Homes are then visited, families are interviewed and home circumstances are assessed.
25 - 30 new pupils are selected each year, all around the age of 6.
They come from the most disadvantaged circumstances, where they are often living with a single parent, grandparents, or other relatives.
We believe that every child deserves an equal chance to learn and so there is NO entrance test - children of ALL abilities, gender, tribe or race may be selected.

When are they selected?
Selection takes place each year in October just before the final mid term break.
The class comes together for the first time on the Monday after the mid term break, when they are weighed and measured for the school records and for their uniforms.
They begin Pre Prep classes for the final half-term and begin school the following January as the new Prep class.
